Did you know:

  • Each year, over 2,5 million people visit the 'Camino de Santiago'. 250.000 of them receive the official accreditation which means they walked the last 100 km of the pilgrimage.
  • Percebes, also called gooseneck barnacles are filter-feeding crusaceans that live attachted to rocks. In Portugal and Spain, they are widely consumed. It is an expensive seafood dish that looks a bit peculiar.
  • Botafumeiro is a famous thurible, found in the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. It is the largest thurible,¬†carried and swung by eight men. At the top of the swing, the Botafumeiro reaches heights of 21 meters!
