Teambuilding / Conference Ice breaker
Get lean and green
The eco Teambuilding is a fun (not a pedantic!) approach to a serious theme. The objective: demonstrate how to make a big, positive impact on the environment by taking small actions. By doing a number of challenges – making clean water, producing electricity, sorting according to footprint, making trash art, … – the team members collect know-how and materials they need to build a real windmill. The actions also imply negotiating and exchanging. By the way: we make sure the event itself is CO2 neutral. First, we calculate the footprint of the event – including transport to and from, catering (local or imported), products used during the event, … Then, we compensate that with the help of co2logic.
Some team building activities we organise :
Power consumption – big master mind
Do you know how much power your household appliances - fridge, the freezer, the LCD television, the oven, … - consume? Sort the appliances according to their energy consumption. If you get it right, the panel will light up.
You receive a giant pile of (clean) waste. Your job is to sort it into different categories: biologically recyclable, residual waste, multiple (sub)categories … Your teams are allowed to do some research in order to sort all the waste correctly.
Each member of the two teams receives an energy source, similar to being assigned a military role in the classic Stratego game.
The rules of the games are clear. Energy from solar power is stronger than coal-based energy. Who assumes the attack position? And who will be the winner?
A number of questions on the environment, averting catastrophes, decreasing energy-abuse…
This quiz is played with a quizmaster and is highly enjoyable. Buzzers are used, but of course … environmentally friendly!
You are given a number of foot pumps to generate power by pushing up and down with your foot. The compressed air will move the wheel and keep it turning. The idea is to produce enough electricity to power the light bulb.
Rank by footprint
Different fruits and vegetables are presented. Rank these according to their environmental footprint.
The teams are challenged to prepare a delicious and eco-friendly smoothie.
All the litter on public roads is 100% our own fault. A cigarette butt e.g. needs 3 years to disappear. And plastic never disappears, it breaks down but can never be taken out of the ecosystem. This task is very simple. Which team can collect the most litter within the allotted time? The standard is weight.
No doubt you’re wondering “what does whipped cream have to do with ecology?” A little imagination is required: all the ingredients for whipped cream are on the table, but the egg-whisk is electrical. And we forgot the electricity cable at home… We do have a home trainer for each team. If you can connect this correctly to the whisk you can activate the machine and whip the cream. Luckily there are a lot of team members that can help you pedal.
Assisted by an experienced artist you will use second-hand articles to create a true masterpiece. You can also opt for this artwork to be framed and delivered to your office afterwards.
